Henry went to back put of a parking space when he saw a SUV waiting to take his place. Waiting a foot from his bumper. Henry put his car in reverse thinking the SUV driver would then back up so Henry could get out. Henry was too optimistic. He thought it took a certain amount of smarts to drive a car. Maybe. It appears it doesn’t take any to drive a SUV.

Henry waited to see if the SUV was going to back up. It wasn’t. He told his wife to wave the driver back. She did, The driver of the SUV waved back at her but didn’t back up. Henry decided to start backing up and then stop. That would get the idea across. It didn’t.

“Guess I’m going to either have to sit here until he gives up or go back and tell him to back up”, Henry told his wife.

“Ask”, she replied.

“What?”, Henry asked.

“Ask, not tell. That could be a crazy person. You might get shot”.

Shot?! Holy cow! Okay, Henry thought, I’ll just keep creeping back until I either get the idea across or hit him. Henry backed up a foot. The SUV backed up 10 inches. Henry went another foot, The SUV went another 10 inches. Henry figured he might, just might, eventually get out. Maybe.

“Honey”, Henry’s wife said, “would you like to go back in and get desert? I’m sure the driver of the SUV will wait on us”.
