South Carolina issued a newly designed license plate. They started with the July registrations. There are three letters, a Palmetto tree and three numbers. It looks nice and is nicely balanced. All the July plates start with A. There's the problem.

"Say, bahs, I been a noticin' thet all of the new plates be startin' with A. When, en August, it be B an' so ahn."

"Yea, Ah thunk thet up all by my lonesome. Purty dern clevah effen Ah do say so mahself."

"Yea, it be rahl clevah. The thing of et es, come nex' June we be at L. Thet leave a lotta lettahs in the elfabit."

"Huh? Whet ya mean?"

"Wahl, bahs, theys more'n twelve lettahs in the elfabit."

"They es? Ya sure?"

"Yahs, Ah be rahl sure."
