We know that the Earth travels around the Sun, not the other way around. How do we know that? Astrologers tell us, that’s how. Yet, if you stand in your yard, on a sunny day, and watch the Sun rise in the East and set in the West, you’ll go blind unless you’re wearing good sunglasses. Not those clip on things, good ones. Your neighbors will talk about you too.

“What’s that goof doing over there?”, says one neighbor.

“Don’t know. He’s been standing there all day staring at the sky”, says another.

“Maybe we all ought to stay clear of him. He must be nuts.”

What you’ll notice is the Sun moving across the sky. What you won’t notice is the Earth turning on it’s axis.

That’s another thing. The Earth turns on it’s axis once every 24 hours, or so they claim. That’s 1500 miles an hour. At the Equator. Imagine what it is in Sweden. Must be spinning at 3-4 thousand miles an hour up there. Yet, Swedish blondes seem to be able to keep their hair in place. Think about that one. I think about Swedish blonds a lot.

Okay, the rotation of the earth is what causes gravity. That’s the reason you can stand up straight. So far, so good. What about all those people below the Equator? Aren’t they actually standing upside down? How come the blood doesn’t rush to their heads and kill them? How come?

We know the Earth’s not flat, of course. Magellan proved that by circumnavigating the Earth. Actually, Magellan didn’t but his ship did. After getting through the Straits of Magellan, he sailed into the calm Pacific Ocean. Everything was smooth sailing. He missed the few islands there were until he hit the Philippines. He was so bored the Spanish Conquistador nonsense came out.

Magellan tried some macho madness on the natives and that was a mucho mistako. The Filipinos chopped him up, cooked him and ate him.

The ship did fine. Magellan had a guy who could navigate by the stars, if they’re real.
