Mr. Spock stood at his station pre-reading the computer as it processed information. Suddenly, he sensed danger. No, make that danger! No, this is Spock, never showing emotion. Better make that danger, although to any human it would be danger! He calmly turned around to the direction the danger signal seemed, no, was coming from. Kirk. Captain Kirk was fooling around with the buttons on his console as he idly watched space roll by. He's done something dangerous, Spock thought, and I'll have to discern what it is and correct it.

Before he had the chance, the bridge door opened and a very angry Commander Scott erupted into the room.

"Captain! You cut off the life support to Engineering- again! Lad, you musna do that! I had to quickly override your command and restore the life support, laddie!", Scottie yelled.

"Mr. Scott! I'm the captain. Do not raise your voice to me. Understood?", Kirk replied.

"Aye, sir. But, you musna do that".

"Mr. Scott, you say you overrode the command. Is that correct?", Kirk asked.

"Aye, indeed I did. And none too soon, I might add".

"Scottie, you're a friend but I have to place you under arrest for disobeying my order. You are confined to quarters".

"What! You almost killed us and now you're-"

"Engineering, report", Kirk said into his communicator.

"Captain", Spock said, "if I may . Mr. Scott is Engineering and he's standing directly beside you".

"Yes, I see. Mr. Scott, I'm adding dereliction of duty to the charges. You failed to be at your assigned post".

"Captain, it would seem as if Mr. Scott had a valid reason to be absent from his post. You should reconsider your charges", Spock advised.

"Hmm, okay, Spock. You're lucky Mr. Spock spoke up, Scottie", Kirk said. "You owe him one".

"I owe-. I owe that pointy-eared alien? Court-martial me!"

"Mr. Scott, if I want your advice, I'll ask for it"

"Captain, a message from Star Fleet Command!", Lt. Uhura said. She half-turned in her seat, her mini inching up and her tunic straining the buttons and the crew's eyes.

Kirk babbled something or anotherand even Spock felt a rush.

"Sir, we are to set a course for Alpha 2 a 4 ac. We are to rendezvous with a Trangolian Star Ship", she told Kirk.

"We're heading there as it is", Sulu told the captain.

"Captain, we were told not to go there. Star Fleet is going to wonder how we got there as quickly as we are going to", Sulu added.

"Uhura, confirm the order and tell them that we, uh, hmm. Tell them, tell them we know a shortcut", Kirk ordered.
