Thrill and a Half
“Wow! Did ya see that?”, Johhny yelled out. Johnny was the oldest. “Yea. Man! Hey! We could do that! Heck, yea!”, Yelled Ronnie, the middle son. “Yea, man! We-”, started Lonnie, the youngest. “Ain’t no “‘we” that includes you, little brother. You can watch”, Johnny told him. They took the lessons. They learned how to pack a chute properly, how to jump, how to land. They each went on three jumps. They felt ready to try what they wanted on their own. They hired a plane, packed their chutes and away they went. They let Lonnie come along for the ride. The pilot announced that they were in position and could go out anytime they were ready. Lonnie was pouting but he did watch his brothers go out. He felt hurt and jealous. Then he looked over and saw two chutes. One of them wasn’t going to get his chute handed to him. Two? He went up and told the pilot what happened. The pilot looked out and down. “Yea, I see them. Don’t see no chutes open. Man, the ride is going to be a thrill and a half. That last inch is going to be a real killer though”. Lonnie told the pilot, "I guess this makes me the oldest brtoher". |
