Druids and the Mafia

The Druids were a curious bunch. Their beliefs weren’t so much different from most. They had a lot of gods and one main god. Sort of like the Mafia has lots of bosses but one main boss- John Gotti. The Druids believed god was everywhere, as most do.

They’d pick up a rock, with god in it, tie it to a stick, with god in it, and make a club to kill their enemies. Of course, their enemies had god in them so they were killing god with god. That should have been confusing to them but they ignored it as “the unknowable”. Sound familiar?

The Mafia loaded a gun with bullets and shot their enemies. They called it, “Nothing personal, just business”.

The High Priest stood in a small clearing with his arms raised to the sky. He was surrounded by his followers. It was cold and rainy. His followers pulled their cloaks tighter to ward off the chill. They wished the High priest would bring god weather to show his power. A nice clear sky. Lots of sunshine and temperature in the 80’s. But no, this is was they got. A jolt to the system

The High Priest was calling out for a sign, a sign for his people. He got a lightning bolt. Hit him directly on his head. He flipped over and down and as he lay there smoking his followers stood in awe.

“Wow! He did have the power. He called down lightning! Wow!”, one of them exclaimed.

“Yea, can we go home now where it’s warm?”, another asked.

“What about the High Priest?”, a third asked.

“Uh, he’s not the High Priest anymore. looks like he’s just a piece of cooked meat to me. I’m out of here”, the first one said.

John Gotti would grab someone and lay a big kiss on him. That guy would be dead as a doornail soon. Gotti wouldn’t unless he was stupid enough to get a shave in a barbershop.

Being a High priest was a great honor. You got a lot of respect and a choice of the best babes. Again, just like the Mafia. You also were risking your life going anywhere too.
