On the local scene a deer trashed a house. The house looks like a hotel room after a rock group leaves. No one got hurt except the deer and it wasn't hurt much. The house was tore up, though. It looked like a tornado went through the place. Or a deer.

It was seven o'clock in the morning. Things were just starting in the Smith household. Mrs. Smith was yelling for the kids to get up. Mr. Smith was in the shower. The kids were thinking about getting out of bed. A deer was taking aim at the front door.

Crash!

The deer was in. He looked around and then started tearing the place up. The police and the Wildlife Commission say they have not been able to determine a motive.

"He just felt like it", Warden Cooley told reporters.

Mrs. Smith, after the initial shock wore off, and after three Valiums, said, "If he'd a knocked I'd a let him in."

Mr. Smith, after finishing his shower, came down to confront the deer. He looked at that deer, counted the seven points, saw the odds were against him and fled to the children's room. To protect them, he says.

Mrs. Smith yelled up the stairs to him, "Are you going to do something or not?"

"Yes, dear", he replied.

Both Mrs. Smith and the deer exchanged odd looks at that one.

Little Jimmy supposedly said, "If he wanted to protect us why did he crawl under the bed?"
