False Advertising

Phil and his wife, Martha, were watching a commercial for the blue pill. It was done tastefully and tactfully. It seemed to be the answer to every man’s worst fear. Phil was impressed by it. He was considering getting some of it when Martha told him, “They shouldn’t allow false advertising on tv”.

False advertising? The blue pill is supposed to work great. Phil didn’t personally know anyone who was using it but he suspected that was men refusing to admit to using it. No man wants to admit he needs help, especially that kind of help. False? Would the government allow something false on tv, besides their own promises? Hardly. What was Martha thinking of?

“Honeybuns, this isn’t false advertising. It’s been proven to work. A lot of research went into this. If it didn’t work it would be all over the internet as a scam”, Phil told her.

“Sweetums, I didn’t say it didn’t work. It probably does. It’s still false advertising”, Martha insisted.

Martha’s not making sense, Phil thought. If it works, then it’s real. If it’s real, it’s not false advertising.

“Honeybuns, I don’t get your meaning here at all. If it works, then it’s real. If it’s real, it’s not false advertising. What am I missing here?”, Phil asked.

“Sweetums, were you watching the commercial or daydreaming about buying it? If you were watching, you would have noticed the smile on the woman’s face. Did you see that? That’s false advertising. The makers of this pill should be put in prison”.

“Honeybuns, why wouldn’t she be smiling?”

“Sweetums, if that pill actually worked, do you think any woman would be smiling?”
